So I visited my Endocrinologist last week. We had a long discussion about weight loss and the struggle I have without a thyroid. We went step by step, my chosen exercises at the gym, my food choices. He changed up my medicine and added some T3 and slightly lowered my T4. After a week of eating how he wanted me to, and going to the gym and doing a minimun of 60 minutes of cardio, I must say I feel good and have lost 5 lbs. Who would have thought! But it takes a strong will to make the right choices as well.
Last night, we went to Carrabba's for dinner. I love that place but having Italian pasta is probably not on my eating plan. So even thought it was hard, I chose to pick the grilled chicken and a side of Broccoli. Yep, in a pasta restaurant I had broccoli and chicken.
Seeing my five pound loss in one week, gave me the boost I needed. It told me that all those hard choices were worth it. Today, some grilled Kabobs for lunch then it's off to the grocery store for some more healthy food. Till then!

Strike out!
Well, part of the fun of working out, is having someone to workout with. That is always something that passes the time and keeps your mind off of how hard your working. It was just the other day that I went to the gym with my workout buddy Kari and found out that I could actually run on the treadmill and not die! I even ran for a whole 5 minutes straight while Kari pushed me to finish the five minutes. It was definitely an amazing feeling and I was so proud of myself for pushing like that.
On the flip side, there is a downfall to having a workout buddy of which you do all of your workouts with, an that is, if they cancel, then you dont work out.
Today we had a meeting to attend together and decided to meet that afternoon at 4pm and check out the Zumba class that they have at the gym. I was excited to try it because I did NOT want to go back to that spin class they have. I thought I was going to die during that class. The small little seat that those bikes have hurt my butt so bad I cant even remember the class, just that I thought my bones were going to be poking out of my rear because the seat rubbed it raw. So Zumba, a sort of dance aerobics, sounded a lot more fun then the spinning class. As the day progressed I did the usual and changed cloths and tried to hydrate before I headed off to the gym to meet Karil. I thought that we would meet probably a half and hour early like we did for the spinning class so I took off 15 mins prior to the meet time.
Pulling into the parking lot, I see it's full and the lot next to it is pretty open so I drive over there and park. I send Kari a message saying that the parking lot is full, park on the right, etc. To my surprise, she texts back saying "didn't you get my msg?"
Dang, I knew then that our workout date was a bust and I was on my own. I had a choice here, I could have very well went in and tried Zumba on my own. But insecurities caused me to click that seat belt on and to put the pedal to the medal.
I regret my decision now and should have at least went in the gym and gotten on the treadmill. But, being use to a workout partner and then going without them, can be a scary thing.
We'll try again tomorrow for some exercise and hopefully we will get a good burn.
Until then, I live with a bit of guilt from not taking advantage of the time I had and using it. Zero extra calories burned today. :(
